We are looking for someone with experience as an exhibition technician, preferably with a focus on decorative carpentry, who wants to help create the future experimental environment at 2047 Science Center.

About us

2047 Science Center works to strengthen the scientific capital of the population in Dalarna and is part of the region's strategic skills supply. We are an arena for knowledge transfer. We operate a pedagogical specialist organization related to STEM and have a popular public experimental environment in Borlänge.

In 2026, our experimental environment will undergo a comprehensive transformation – both in terms of content and physical environment.

Therefore, we are looking for 1–2 exhibition technicians for our production team who are self-driven and enjoy working independently as well as in a team.

About the role

Together with the production team, you will work to realize our new experimental environment based on a completed development plan.

Responsibilities include:

• Decorative carpentry and construction of experimental stations, decorative elements, and special solutions
• Construction of wall and furniture elements adapted for public use
• Surface treatment and decorative painting on various materials, focusing on sustainability and aesthetics

We are looking for someone who:

• Has solid experience in exhibition technology, fine carpentry, and construction in environments with high demands on finish and functionality
• Can assess and choose the right method, material, and fastening for different constructions
• Has experience working in public environments – such as science centers, museums, stage production, TV, events, or similar

Meritorious:

• Technical interest and basic understanding of interactive systems or IoT
• Experience in metalworking and basic welding
• Knowledge of AV technology, installation, and operation
• Experience in 3D modeling in SketchUp or similar tools

Employment conditions

The position is a fixed-term employment of 6 - 12 months.

Scope 20–40 hours per week.

2047 Science Center is located in Borlänge.
